Book Reviews: January 2017

This month was an OK month for reading.  I started out on a roll and then got lazy and started choosing netflix over reading.

This book was cute, predictable, and funny.  The main characters were goofy, the story line was a bit silly, and the supporting characters were quirky, but that is exactly why I enjoyed this book.  I loved Milly and Cameron, I thought they were super cute, and I really loved all of the Disney references.  This book isn't a master piece or anything but it's perfect if your looking for something cute and a bit silly.   I would recommend it as a beach/vacation read.
I gave this book a 4/5 on my GoodReads.

received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really love Miranda Kenneally and I really love the Hundred Oaks series!  For this series, you really don't have to read them in order, but some of the characters do return.  In this one, you see Jordan again (main character from the first book), but you wont be confused if you don't read the other books.  Anyways, I loved the competitiveness of the characters in this book and I loved that you see them develop in the sport as well as developing personally.  I also really like that the characters experience some teenage angst without it being stupidly dramatic.  As with the rest of her books, this book is based in the world of sports with a good, strong female character, which I always like to see.  I'd definitely recommend this book, especially to girls/women.

After reading Coming Up for Air, I searched Amazon for Miranda Kenneally to see if I had missed any books in this series, and I had missed this one.  It also happened to be on sale!  Most of her books are really based in the world of sports.  While soccer did play a part in this book, I feel like it was really just a background thing; not that I had a problem with that.  I had mixed emotions about the main character.  A lot of the times I felt really bad for her but at the same time I was like "girl, what are you doing?!"  This book was a bit different from the rest of the series but I really, really enjoyed it and I'm glad that the ending was good but that not everything worked out perfectly.  It made the story more realistic.  As with all Miranda Kenneally's books, I definitely recommend reading this book.

This was a sweet and cute story.  Nothing crazy but it kept me entertained and was a fairly quick read.  Also, if you're looking for something loosely based on Pride and Prejudice, this really isn't it.  I would recommend this book for anyone looking for something light and cute.
I gave this book a 3/5 on my GoodReads.
